For me, the art journey is much like a hike — it’s not just about where you end up, it’s what you discover along the way. And each medium I play in has a different personality. Fun, huh? From pixels to pens and paints, I like to explore different approaches.
If you haven’t already noticed…. I’ve gotta a thing for plants. I love ‘em even if I can’t keep the real ones alive!
My other favorites are travel themes, hand-lettered positive affirmations. and the occasional animal that strikes my fancy. I’ll usually group a collection of these together to tell a fun story about one of my adventures.
While I work mostly in digital formats, there is a common style across my work. I go for a flatter 2D graphic style with minimal shading, and some outlining in black never hurt anyone.
Vivid color combinations are a must-have. They’re all over the place in nature, and I can’t help but to riff off those amazing color palettes.
Last but not least, my favorite style element is playing with negative space, layers and interesting juxtapositions of subject matter. Having a flatter, graphic style keeps things from getting too busy and helps your eye focus on the subtle play of layers.
